Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was a television personality, a former chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. Anne W. Burrell hosts of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef for Food Network. Food Network, as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell's Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant chef and her distinctive spiky blond locks and pumped up appearance, offers easy techniques anybody can learn. Chef Burrell also has worked in some of New York's top establishments, studied Italian food, its culture and traditions and has participated in Food Network's Iron Chef America. Growing up in upstate New York, Chef Burrell developed a passion for food and cooking from an early age. She pursued her love of the restaurant industry by enrolling in The Culinary Institute of America following the completion of a bachelor's degree in English as well as Communication at Canisius College, Buffalo NY. She states "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I enjoyed every moment." It was impossible to learn and do enough or put in the hours. After graduating, chef Burrell lived in Italy for a year, studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Additionally, she worked at La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin starred restaurant) in Tuscany. While in Italy, she developed a deep appreciation and understanding of Italian cuisine and its culture. It will have a significant impact on the way that Burrell cooks. Burrell is an ambassador for the celebrity chef to the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She has been on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board, which helps kids with disabilities. Burrell speaks on her culinary love and imparts her expertise in the culinary world when she is in the United States for the roles of mentors and speakers. Anne says she was incredibly fortunate in that she could be able to share her passion for cooking with others.
